SLJ: Superpower, TIME!

today I have made a Sundial which is like a clock but it uses the sun's light to tell the time, so what it does is the sun's light hits that triangle part and makes a shadow on the other side of it and when the sun moves the shadow also moves! this task was very easy because the steps were simple. All we needed was cardboard, pencil, a string, scissors, and lastly blu-tack and with that you can make your own sundial.

  1. Hey Alamoni,

Great work on the sundial activity. I’ve really enjoyed seeing what you and the other students have made this summer. You’ve explained how the sundial works quite well too, the sundial is a really interesting piece of technology that is really simple in design but clever in its use.

It’s really interesting to learn about how people in the past did things and how their lives differed from ours.

Make sure to put it somewhere around the house that gets lots of direct sunlight without other sources of light around it to confuse the shadows. Then use the clocks you’ve already got and spin it round till it’s telling the correct time.

    Nice work Alamoni,
See you later in the comments,

    Daniel

  2. Hi Alamoni,
Well done on making such a great sundial, yours looks amazing.
You have shown great engineering skills in building it, are you going to mark any specific times on your sundial?
